In the space of one year, 21-year-old Joel Compass has emerged as one of the most exciting artists working in Britain today. Joel Compass was born singer, songwriter and producer now embarks on his second single “Forgive Me’, taken from his forthcoming debut album, ‘Science’, due for release this September. ‘Forgive Me’ showcases Joel’s expressive falsetto over a knockout chorus backed with pounding drums and melodic keyboard lines.
Alongside the single, will be four remixes from Zoo Station, Embrz, James Welsh & Hostage
With the success of previous single, ‘Run’ (which was remixed by and featured Pusha T) the young singer has embarked on a UK tour with American rapper J Cole as well as taking a spot on several ‘Ones To Watch’ lists including The Guardian, I-D, RWD, Channel 4 and the MTV Brand New for 2014 poll alongside Sam Smith & Ella Eyre.
Joel Compass now turns towards the rest of 2014 with a headline show announced at XOYO on April 29th and several festival dates throughout the summer including; Wireless (where Joel will be opening for US superstars Pharrell Williams and Kanye West) and Parklife.
Joel Compass has been turning heads since his debut track ‘Back To Me’ surfaced last year gaining more than 30k Souncloud and 150k Youtube plays in a week. That track and follow-up EP tracks ‘Fucked Up’ and ‘Astronaut’ received radio play from tastemaker DJ’s including two Zane Lowe ‘Hottest Record’ slots, and playlistings on the likes of BBC Radio 1 and 1 Xtra.
Joel Compass has also attracted coverage on Hypebeast, Clash, The Hunger, This Is Fake DIY, The Line of Best Fit, I-D, Wonderland, The Independent and The Guardian to name a few. The success of debut single ‘Run’ and it’s B listings at Radio 1, I Xtra and Capital Xtra saw Compass’ Youtube views soar to over 1.6 million.
