Having spent the last 18 months carving out a stellar reputation with a series of high-end remixes for the likes of AlunaGeorge and Oliver $, French DJ/producer Tchami has an-nounced he is to debut on Ministry Of Sound with forthcoming single ‘Promesses’, featur-ing the emerging talents of UK vocalist Kaleem Taylor.
Since first coming to the music world’s attention after upping a remix of Janet Jackson’s ‘Go Deep’ in 2013to his Soundcloud, Tchami has been included in Vice magazine’s ’30 DJ’s To Watch’ for 2014, with further remixes of AlunaGeorge’s smash ‘You Know You Like It’, Mercer’s ‘Turn It Up’ and Oliver $ and Jimi Jules’ ‘Pushing On’ all garnering sup-port from the likes of A-Trak, Dillon Francis and Skrillex. Remixes aside, Tchami also re-leased debut house cut ‘Untrue’ via Spinnin’ Records in April – a track that has already racked up well over a million plays on YouTube alone.
Kaleem Taylor meanwhile, first made his name after his track ‘Blowout’. Kaleem Taylor has supported US RnB megastars Boyz II Men and Miguel at Brixton Academy. He has also performed a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session for Trevor Nelson in which he covered Frank Ocean’s ‘Think-ing About You’ – a version that has gone on to amass over a quarter of a million YouTube views to date.
Originally picked up via A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold imprint in 2013, the pair combine to great ef-fect on ‘Promesses’, a single that has been revamped for 2014 with newly-worked vocal edits and polished bass licks giving the track a fresh dose of definitive crossover appeal. Lucidly simple in it’s construction as all good dance records should be, Kaleem Taylor’s distinct vo-cal textures compliment deep, thick-edged bass and shimmering atmospheric layers, whilst timely instrumental breakdowns allow for the track’s undeniable swing and energy to really make it’s impact felt.
Scheduled for release via Ministry Of Sound, ‘Promesses’ serves as the perfect introduc-tion to the talents of Tchami and Taylor, and, given the unprecedented reception the track has already received online, feels ready to launch both as two future stars of electronic music.
