Grime stalwart LETHAL BIZZLE returns with his second single release on Virgin EMI (who he inked a deal with in January 2015) – summer anthem in the making, ‘Playground’ (feat. Shakka).
‘Playground’ , which features Mobo nominee Shakka and is produced by LETHAL BIZZLE’s long-time production partner Diztortion, was debuted on Radio 1 last night when Annie Mac played it as her ‘Hottest Record’. Itsfollows on from the release of the inimitable ‘Fester Skank’ (which charted at no. 11 in the UK singles chart this April), and last year’s ‘The Drop’ (feat. Cherri V) and ‘Rari Workout’ (feat. JME & Skepta) – both of which were released independently through BIZZLE’s own label, Dench Records and charted at no. 20 and no. 11 in the UK Singles charts respectively.
After performing at back to back festivals over the summer (from Radio 1 Big Weekend through Wireless to Reading and Leeds), LETHAL BIZZLE will embark on his nationwide headline UK ‘Dencchat’ tour this October. Kicking off at King Tuts in Glasgow on 1st October, the tour will see Bizzle stop at Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bristol before wrapping up at the Concorde 2 in Brighton on 9th October. Full dates and details for the tour listed below.
LETHAL BIZZLE first exploded onto the British music scene in 2003 as part of More Fire Crew, whose debut single, the Garage anthem ‘Oi’, charted at no. 7 in the UK singles charts. Since then as a solo artist he has released three albums and twenty singles, including the Grime anthem ‘Pow (Forward)’; become a MOBO award winner; and embarked on two sold out headline tours in addition to supporting the likes of The Enemy and Babyshambles on tour, performing regularly on the UK festival circuit and appearing at the final Live 8 concert in 2005. Alongside his career as an MC, Bizzle has graced the silver screen (with a cameo role in the film Anuvahood), and proved himself to be a thriving entrepreneur, with the founding of his own imprint Dench Records, the launch of clothing line Stay Dench with ex-Arsenal footballer Emmanuel Frimpong, and the international expansion of his Dench Party club nights.
