Emeli Sandé releases the stunning new single ‘My Kind Of Love’ on 28^th May. The track is the fourth single to be taken from her hugely acclaimed number 1 album ‘Our Version of Events’ and follows the number 2 single ‘Next To Me’, which has now been certified Gold (400,000 sales). ‘Our Version of Events’ is the biggest selling debut album of the year with nearly half a million sales and has remained in the Top 5 since its release 8 weeks ago.

‘My Kind Of Love’ is a heartfelt track, powerfully emotive and richly melodic. With its tribal drums, echoy, ethereal vocal and “my heart beats only for you” refrain it’s the one you need when in the depths of despair. Emeli’s vocal is utterly outstanding; sharp in places, haunted, it’s as much an evocative instrument as the soundbed of sweeping strings.

The sentiment for the track was inspired by the patients Emeli met whilst studying medicine in Glasgow. Emeli explains, “During my time studying medicine, I found it hard to write, but one of the things that inspired  me were the patients and the interaction that they had with their loved ones during their time of illness.  When people arrived at the hospital, money and status became irrelevant and only health mattered, which sparked an honesty between people which was amazing to see. This interaction, declaration of support and love, was the inspiration for ‘My Kind Of Love’ and the video for the track”.

Directed by luminary director Dawn Shadforth, it’s the tale of two sisters and their evolving relationship, the youngest sister (played by Laya Lewis, Skins) having been confined to a hospital bed.
