‘YOUR LOVE’ Taken From the debut – GOLD EP (MTA) – OUT NOW

Following on from her much acclaimed ‘Black’ EP in late 2013, the exceptionally talented MOKO is back and ready to unleash four brand new slices of her unique blend of 90’s soul, R&B and house tinged emotive pop in the form of her next release – the ‘Gold’ EP.

This EP is her most intricate yet, still summoning all the thump of her 90s house and pop touchstones, but injecting into the darkness a mixture of what MOKO describes as “fun, energy, captivation, and colour.” As a result, joining The Imposters (Black EP) on production are the skills of Two Inch Punch, Kwes and her label bosses Chase & Status.

2013 witnessed MOKO graduate from Goldsmiths before she headed out on tour with Chase & Status to perform their top 5 single ‘Count On Me’ to their seas of fans. Unwavering supporters, mentors and collaborators, Will & Saul have since repaid the favour to MOKO in the studio which has resulted in the brilliant lead track from the EP – ‘Your Love’.

Where ‘Count On Me’ had a decidedly British sound, ‘Your Love‘ carries a Stateside shade of early 90s house, with MOKO’s vocals invoking memories of a firebrand Robin S. Next track, is the epic and beautiful ‘Ceremony’ that some may recognise from her mesmerising live shows of last year.

The Two Inch Punch produced track follows – ‘With You’ is a thunderous summer groove with pitched up vocal cuts and a thick bass synth. Contrastingly, MOKO’s most cherished moment on the EP is her most laid bare in the form of piano ballad ‘Missing Love‘ that completes the EP. Kwes filled in the gaps with momentous percussion and sparse production, and the sentiment at the time of writing was captured in time.

‘Gold’ – MOKO’s second solo offering is four tracks of bass-heavy soul and house which draws a line in the sand ahead of the release of her debut album next year, clearly stating that this singer is quite capable of making her own colossal waves in 2014 and beyond.
